Chronologically, this novella is a prequel to the Enforcers and Coterie series, but it's actually meant to be read after Dawn's Keeper.

This is an origin story, detailing the beginnings of a character that will become very important later on in the series, as well as an explanation of how some things in the E&C universe came to be. Assassinated Love is a well-researched and lush account of ancient Egypt and a very cool re-imagining of the Egyptian god of regeneration and the goddess of nature. Oh, and of their "son" too.

I truly liked Osiris and admired his restraint. Isis I found a little bit more difficult to sympathize with, but being as she is ancient Egyptian royalty, her character traits are expected to be rather far removed from what I can identify with. That being said, this is the perfect companion piece to the series and does a great job answering questions raised in Dawn's Keeper.

'Assassinated Love' was a great novella of Dawn's early, I mean WAY early life. Osiris and Isis undoubtedly had true love. Their story was beautiful. This series, 'Enforcers and Coterie' has had me as a fan from the first book. I look forward to the next book. 
I just love this series from Veronica. She is a skilled author that has a great writing style. The pace of the book is right on, as usual. This one is on the shorter side, just introducing some of the history of some of the characters hinted on in other books. I love how she brings it together and also puts a new twist on Egyptian mythology!

I can't wait to read more from this author!

Sexy as hell and so absorbing, I bet you can't stop once you start. My favorite of the 3 novellas that go with the longer books in this great series.
This book was fun to read as I love Ancient Egypt and enjoyed how this story was put together. Got to love the Mages too
